- The insects were first relegated to areas surrounding and in Argentina. However, since then they have spread across all six continents. In particular, they have been very widespread in California and have killed many native ants species after being introduced. They have been an extremely dominant invasive species, as well as an extraordinarily common house pest.
- This causes many issues for humans as they enter homes for foraging, and also upsetting the natural ecosystem by outcompeting native species.
